I think I am turning Japanese …

I love it when I get a client who has as much passion for getting things right as I do…Recently upon someone’s recommendation I had a lovely guy call me wanting an Ikebana arrangement ..Yes I can hear you all saying a what ???? Let me say it again but slowly ..if possible .. IIIKKEEBBAANNAA
It is a Japanese art form of arranging flowers ..Well fortunately I had studied this although for a very, very short time. As beautiful as this art form is I decided I wasn’t for me…
What is Ikebana ..I know your asking yourself that …
Well.. let me briefly try to explain …
Ikebana: The Japanese art form of flower arranging creates a harmony of linear construction, rhythm, and colour. While most floral arrangements tend to emphasise the quantity and colours of the flowers, the Japanese emphasise the linear aspects of the arrangement. The entire structure of a Japanese flower arrangement is based on three main points that symbolise heaven, earth, and humankind.
Thank fully for me the Freestyle Ikebana was most recently developed.
Freestyle seeks creative beauty and it is left entirely up to the arranger what to express and how to express it.
MY lovely client had also purchased an antique Japanese Ikebana Basket worth a small amount of money and wanted me to create the arrangement in the basket ..He was certainly brave ..I have been known to break a vase or two mmm or three during shall we say an hour ..
Any way why all of this …One word that makes us all do things that in everyday lives we would never dream of doing ..LOVE ..
Some pics not only of my Ikebana arrangement but also other beautiful display of Ikebana at it best ..Enjoy
